The Southwestern College men's basketball team is seeing success on and off the floor during the 2011-12 season.

Larry Vasquez, Edmond, is a member of the team.

The team is currently 12-2 overall and 3-1 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

2011 highlights off the court for head coach Matt O'Brien's team include:

• The team had the fourth highest grade point average in the country out of 245 schools.

• Eight players earned Academic All-Conference and two players earned NAIA Academic All-American honors.

• The team volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cowley County and hosted a Halloween party.

• They developed a reading program in a local elementary school.

• Builders helped with Southwestern's Numana Project, packaging 30,000 meals were packaged for shipment to hungry kids around the world.

• Coaches participated in Samaritan's Feet, coaching barefoot to provide shoes for poor children.
