Margaret Collett, Jefferson City, Selected to Attend Summit Through Southwestern College

2013 Feb 15

Five Southwestern College students have been selected to attend the Universities Fighting World Hunger Summit March 2-4 in Overland Park. The students will present their research related to food insecurity in a poster presentation.

Margaret Collett, Jefferson City, was selected to attend the event.

Universities Fighting World Hunger represents a campus best practice in international programming and human sustainability. It creates a learning environment where intellectual discovery and social responsibility converge in pursuit of a sustainable world – a world that protects our natural environment and enhances human health and well-being for present and future generations.

The project was executed under the direction of Cheryl Rude, associate professor for Leadership studies, in fulfillment of the requirements for SOCS 307 Leadership Research. According to Rude, the five students submitted their leadership community action research project, "The Frequency of Food Insecurity in Undergraduate Students," to the Universities Fighting World Hunger Summit and were selected to attend.
