Nikia Smith, Syracuse, in Concert with SC Singers December 6

2012 Nov 29

The SC Singers will be in concert on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m., in Messenger Recital Hall in the Darbeth Fine Arts Center. There is no admission charge to attend.

Nikia Smith, Syracuse, is a member of the SC Singers.

The concert will feature excerpts from J. S. Bach's "Magnificat" and "Cantata no. 10." These two works are both settings of the "Song of Mary" from Luke Chapter 1, and will feature student soloists. Daniel Stevens and Stephen Butler will be collaborating on violin and piano.

The concert will also feature some lighter songs, including an arrangement of Vince Guaraldi's "Christmas Time is Here," from the beloved holiday classic, "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

"The vocal works of J. S. Bach are some of the most difficult in the repertoire, and I'm very proud of our students who are able perform it so well," says SC director of choirs, David Gardner. "The audience is in for an enjoyable evening."
